I found a wheel cleaning device which is a glove made of small microfibers on Scott Bley's Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing YouTube channel. I decided to try it and I love it. It doesn't scratch the rim, and allows you to get on the back side of the rim, where dirt and oils accumulate over time. I use these both with a wash bucket and with a waterless wash and wax.
